And then there was Yoga
You may have read my last post.. me trying to get my butt in gear and taking a barre class.
It is probably unexpected that a Mom of 2 who is 17 weeks pregnant decides it is that moment that she should begin to take care of her health... but that is what happened.
After the fatigue began to get too much to bear, after keeping up with my own toddlers became difficult, after pregnancy decided to give me a 1-2 punch, I decided it was time for a change.
So Barre happened and it kicked my ever loving behind. I knew that 1 barre class a week was NOT going to make a dent in my health. So I got online and looked up beginner yoga classes (you may also remember that I could not find any prenatal yoga classes that worked for working women). I found one, signed up and showed up and it was actually fairly easy compared to the barre class. Granted, it was still hard at times and some of those poses take a great deal of core strength and concentration, but I was not wincing in pain! I did have a few shaky limb moments though...
The breathing techniques and slowness of yoga may not be for me, but I did feel like it was still beneficial. I'm going to give it another few tries and try and find out if I can get into practicing yoga. The benefits are well documented, but I found myself bored and distracted at times.... which may suggest, I need yoga even more.
In any event, that is two classes geared towards me time... not for the girls, not cheering Paul on in a 5K or bike race... but for me!
And when I got home and scarfed down a turkey and hummus wrap, Paul said he was proud of me... and that feels damn good too!
